This guide covers exactly what the reviewer compares, then the common causes of rejection and how to correct each, then what not to do between attempts — because some of what looks like speeding things up actually sets you back.
What the reviewer compares
Three things, and nothing else. Any difference between them — even a single word — is enough for a rejection:
- The legal name on your document, letter for letter, against the name written on the Meta business account.
- The address on the document against the address registered on the account.
- That the document is official, current, issued by a recognised government authority, and fully legible.
The common causes, and the correction for each
| Cause | How to tell it is yours | The correction |
|---|---|---|
| A name that does not match | The Meta account name differs from the registration, even by a word or by "company" | Change the account name to match the document literally, then resubmit |
| An address that does not match | The address on the account is older or shorter than the one on the document | Update the address on the account first, then resubmit |
| An unacceptable document | You uploaded an invoice or a certificate that does not prove the entity is registered | Upload the commercial registration, optionally supported by a tax certificate or municipal licence |
| An illegible image | A phone photo with glare, a crop, or taken at an angle | Upload a digital file or a complete, clear scan |
| An expired document | The expiry date on the document has passed | Renew the document first — there is no way around this one |
| The account itself is incomplete | A business account with no website or no verifiable contact details | Complete the account profile before resubmitting |
The right order for resubmitting
- 1.Correct the account before the documentThe name and address on the Meta account are what gets compared; editing them after submitting does not help the attempt in flight.
- 2.Gather one primary document and one supporting oneThe commercial registration as the primary, with something that backs it such as a tax certificate or municipal licence.
- 3.Check the match yourself, line by lineRead the name on the document and on the account side by side before sending.
- 4.Resubmit once, and waitReview takes its own time, and sending a new request before the previous one is settled puts you back at the end of the queue.
What not to do between attempts
Three moves that look helpful and are not:
- Do not re-upload the same documents unchanged — the result will be the same.
- Do not create a fresh business account to start clean — this loses what you have built and does not fix the cause.
- Do not resubmit daily — back-to-back requests slow the queue rather than speeding it.
Verification is one thing; the green badge is another
The two get confused constantly. Business verification is how you prove to Meta that your company is real, and it is a condition for unlocking the higher messaging-limit tiers. The green badge is a mark shown to your customers beside your name, with entirely separate criteria — and a rejection of one does not mean a rejection of the other.
The green badge and its conditions are covered in the guide to the WhatsApp green tick, and the verification steps from the beginning are in the business verification guide.
Frequently asked questions
How many times can I resubmit?
There is no published number, but every rejected attempt slows the next. It is far more effective to genuinely correct the cause before resubmitting than to keep trying.
I was rejected and the name matches exactly. What else could it be?
Check the address, the legibility of the document image, and that it is current. Check the completeness of the business account too — an account with no website or no verifiable contact details is rejected with perfectly good documents.
Does an invoice or a bank statement work as a document?
Not as the primary one. The primary document is whatever proves the entity is legally registered — the commercial registration — and other documents support it rather than replace it.
Do I need verification to send messages at all?
You can start without it, but you stay at the lower messaging-limit tiers. Verification is what opens the higher ones, and the detail is in the messaging limits guide.
I changed the account name after submitting. Does that count?
Not for the attempt in flight — the comparison was made against what was registered at the moment you submitted. Correct first, then submit again.
Can your team submit on my behalf?
Submission happens from the business account you own, and we have no right to upload for you. But our team reviews the documents and the matching with you before you send, which is what reduces rejections in practice.
