This guide covers what the library holds, the preview before saving and what it exposes, the distribution warning and why it saves you a rejection cycle, and how content is picked from inside the flow builder and the inbox.
What gets saved
A message is not always text, and the library holds the types as they reach the customer:
- Text, the most common — a recurring question, a condition, instructions.
- Images and video — a catalogue, an explainer, a how-to.
- Lists and buttons — where choosing is easier for the customer than typing.
- Attachments — an invoice, a shipping label, a form.
The distribution warning
What the reviewer measures — and which category to choose — is in the template categories guide.
Where it gets used
- 1.Inside the flow builderA node picks a saved message rather than having one typed into it, so the text is updated in one place.
- 2.Inside the inboxAn agent picks the approved reply with one press rather than composing it, and edits it if needed.
- 3.As the basis for a templateWhat has passed the preview and the warning is submitted to Meta already closer to approval.
Why consistency matters more than it looks
Three practical effects of one agreed wording, all of them visible outside the library:
- Fewer complaints — a customer told two different conditions complains rather than asks.
- Faster onboarding — a new agent reads the library instead of asking a colleague.
- Templates closer to approval — text you reviewed once is submitted many times.
And the media?
Images and files are saved once and used everywhere, so an agent is not hunting for the file in an old conversation or sending an out-of-date copy. The limits on file types and sizes follow what WhatsApp itself accepts, which is the reference for them — and the template categories and what is accepted inside each are in the template categories guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is the library the same thing as templates?
No. A template is what Meta approves for starting a conversation; the library is your own content for any use — inside the follow-up window, or as the basis for a template you submit later.
Can I edit at send time?
Yes, unless it is an approved template. In the inbox the text is picked and then edited, so consistency is a starting point rather than a constraint.
Who can add content?
That follows the role. The common arrangement is a manager writing the approved wording and agents using it — which is what makes the library a reference rather than a folder.
What happens if I edit a message used in a flow?
The flow picks the content, so the edit shows wherever it is used. That is the point: one place to update.
Does it support Arabic and English together?
Yes, and it holds both versions of the same message. The bot replies in the customer’s language, so both are used without the customer choosing anything.
Does media count against my storage?
Uploaded files are held within your account’s storage, which is visible to you in the console. An organised library reduces duplicate copies rather than adding to them.
